Fergal was the first student to ever receive a Masters of Technology by Research from the University of Limerick. In addition to twice receiving the John Ryan Macrovision Scholarship and the Advanced Scholars Bursary, Fergal had numerous Papers that were connected with his Masters published.

Prior to his postgraduate studies, Fergal received the most prestigious award a U.L undergrad student can get ("The Silver Medal") after he came in first place in his Information Technology and Telecommunications University Degree class. Fergal also received 7 separate congratulatory letters from UL's Founding President, Dr. Ed Walsh for his academic achievements in his chosen degree course.

Alongside having a life-long interest in software, Fergal has over 18 years of Health Informatics experience, having joined Doctot's sister company, Clinisynergy in 2001. Fergal also gained valuable experience whilst working for industry giants, Ericsson and with the innovative Ashling Group.

As well as being a professional member of the Apple and Sun Java Development communities (amongst several more), Fergal previously lectured both Master Degree and Final Year Degree Students at the University of Limerick.​​

Having designed over 60 Premium Quality Medical Apps (in addition to 30+ standalone Clinical Information Systems), Fergal is considered one of the sector's most accomplished Technicians.

Having installed a culture of continuous improvement within the results-oriented design team that he leads; Fergal's Software Engineering, Computer Architecture, Project Management, Mathematics and Physics capabilities give him a great base of knowledge for his role as Doctot's Technical Director.

As alluded to above, Fergal is chiefly responsible for the successful creation and delivery of Doctot's product range. As part of such, Fergal has expertly devised a standardised and repeatable Development Modus Operandi that effectively balances the Iron Triangle of Scope, Time and Cost (whilst remaining remarkably flexible and customer-focused).

Bringing qualities such as precision, initiative, and integrity to the Consortium (not to mention approachability, reliability and discipline); Fergal's fervour for improved patient safety shines through in every task he undertakes.

Always looking to explore something new, Ferg has a particular love of travel (the above photo was taken at a famous Burger Joint when in Queenstown, New Zealand). Visiting fast food outlets would not be a habit of Fergal's however, as his preferred meals tend to contain no sats, and even less flavour!

A gym enthusiast; an appreciation of Strength and Conditioning Best Practices is but one thing Fergal tries to bring to his Coaching Officer role with the Burgess GAA Club. Hugely interested in a number of different sports, Fergal particularly enjoys the complex strategic nuances of American Football #DoYourJob.

Half-jokingly/half-seriously believing that sleep is a disease in need of curing(!), Fergal tends to do without. When not working during these additional hours, Fergal enjoys classic TV comedies. Screw Flanders :-)
